Here’s a few of my favorite photos from the Norway Cruise excursions. The weather was quite cold and we wore sweaters, wind breakers, and layers the whole time. The first stop was Haugesund (where King Harald united Norway into one kingdom). We went on a bus tour of a preserved town and walked out to a fisherman’s memorial.
The second cruise stop to Geiranger was cancelled due to high winds. The motorized dock that comes out to the ship was not working and the back up of disembarking by small transport boats couldn’t happen due to the wind. However, the ship sailed through the fjord extra slow so we could enjoy all the scenery and waterfalls. This is the day I chose to wear the Norwegian sweater that Stampin’ Up! sent everyone who earned the trip. You could get it sized for you or your spouse/guest. Even though I’m allergic to wool, I sized it for myself. I figured I could just wear a turtleneck under it to protect my skin…worked like a charm!
Our excursion at the third stop, Olden, was a hike to the Briksdal Glacier. It was a challenging 5K hike, but the scenery and the glacier were amazing.
I loved all the round moss covered rocks along the path to the glacier. It reminded me of the troll rocks in Disney’s Frozen. They were everywhere.
The last excursion from the stop in Stavanger was a Lysefjord cruise. The boat ride was a welcome rest for our knees after the long nature hike the day before. We saw plenty of waterfalls and also drove under Pulpit Rock. The people that hiked up to the rock said it was cloudy and wet during their hike…so glad we opted out of that hike.
We also had a stop at a restaurant/shop for Norwegian waffles, coffee, & tea. The benches set up for us had furs draped over the back rest…so cool. We sat and chatted with Scott & Pam from Stampin’ Up! corporate. Since I stayed keto on the trip, I didn’t try the waffles. But, my hubby said they are lighter and less sweet than American waffles.
I think that leaves me just one last post to do from the cruise. I have so many photos…it’s hard to limit it to just a few for each post.
Happy Cruisin’
