Ok, I have a color name rant…actually, 3 minor ones! I have been re-organizing all my colors since the announcement of the color refresh. After making labels for files, paper shelves, and ink pad shelves, I was talking to my daughter about the new colors. I kept saying “Pumpkin Pie” instead of “Pecan Pie” when I realized, wow, I’m in trouble with keeping these 2 colors straight. The 2nd rant comes from noticing we now have Berry Burst, Blackberry Bliss, and Blueberry Bushel! With all these berry names, what are the odds I will say the right name!
I organize my colors by rainbow instead of color families. Here’s my card stock shelves with the new labels in draft order.
I need to do all new labels since they’re losing their sticky from moving them too many times deciding what color order works. I have Pecan Pie with 3 other neutrals on another holder since this unit only holds 36 colors. I’ll finalize the order once it’s filled with new card stock and I can see how the rainbow flows…yes, I’m OCD.
Here’s my ink pad holder ready for new ink pads. However, I’m keeping Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent for the long haul because I love those colors! Hello, awesome greens!
I love my shelf labels for the ink pads since I can just slide those in any slot and re-arrange at will. I made them with Crumb Cake card stock and a 1″ circle punch.
One last color name rant…Lemon Lime Twist! I remember complaining to everyone about that name when it was a new In Color. Don’t get me wrong, I think the name is cute, but it doesn’t follow the formula for all the other names. Meaning, 2 words that start with the same letter…what were they thinking? That just hurts my OCD. Oh well, now that it’s a core color, I’ll have to let that go.
Honorable mention: Lemon Lime Twist and Lemon Lolly both having “Lemon” in the name…ugh!
Anyway, still love the refresh! And, I can’t wait for all my new colors to arrive. I ordered them first thing Tuesday morning (when demonstrators could pre-order). I’m also busy getting ready for my in person open house on May 5th and 6th. If you’re local, stop by for shopping retired items, specials, make’n’takes, catalogs, new In Color bookmarks, snacks and door prizes.
