Yes, I’m a Beatles fan, and since I didn’t know if I’d ever be in England again, I decided I’d better visit Liverpool and Abbey Road while I was there.  We took the train to Liverpool on our first full day there to do the Beatles Story tour and the Magical Mystery Tour.  This is how we started the Stampin’ Up! incentive trip.

The Beatles Story tour in Liverpool

The Beatles Story was basically a Beatles museum in Liverpool that had displays and artifacts of their careers.  I enjoyed it, but the Magical Mystery Tour bus tour around Beatles landmarks was the best!

They took us to all the Beatles homes, Strawberry Field, Penny Lane, and the Cavern Club.

Here’s Ringo’s house.  His house was the only one that was painted like this.  George’s flat was tiny and John’s & Paul’s houses were protected by Liverpool’s historic society.

Here is Strawberry Field which is or was a girl’s orphanage where John would hang out in a nearby tree to check out the girls.  He got in trouble with his Aunt (I believe) about the spying and he asked if it was anything to get hung about…thus the lyric in the song.

My favorite part of the tour was driving down Penny Lane listening to the song and having the tour guide point out the Barber Shop, the round about, and other elements that inspired the song.

The tour ended at the Cavern Club which was very cool, but very packed.  We were going to buy a drink there, but it was too crowded to find a seat.  So, we had a drink and ate an early dinner across the street at the Cavern Club restaurant (same owners).

Then, the next day we rode the underground to Abbey Road Studios so I could walk across the zebra crosswalk.  So much fun!  The actual studio is behind the white wall on the left.

I’m so glad this Beatles fan got to do these tours!  Stay tuned for more adventures from England and Norway.

Happy Stampin’
